  • Hello

Client is asking if this plugin allows you to do the following:

    - user fills out form
    - submission is sent to siteowner's email
    - siteowner can click "reply" and it replies to whatever the user filled in for their email address

Client is using this plugin on Joomla.

Hopefully that makes sense. Seems simple enough. In Wordpress, Contact Form 7 allows this functionality by allowing you to insert a shortcode in place of "to:" so that when the email is sent, it is sent "from: user's email address."

Thanks for your help! We're thinking about buying a license.

    - Jordan

  • How do you use this feature? And is it part of free or paid license?

  • Dear Customer

We have email options where you can set

Reply to, Send From, Send to options.

If I remember correctly this option is available in free version.
    Best Regards

  • Maybe I should be more clear...

In the settings I can see the option for reply to email... I want to use a variable..

    Image example: https://screencast.com/t/Dj1o3V3DE

    Example explained...

If my name is Joe Dirt and my email is jdirt@yahoo.com... And I go to the website and fill out the form, when the website owner receives the submission, he would like to (in his email program) hit reply, and it will obviously have "jdirt@yahoo.com's" email address in there...

Without variables, I don't understand how this can be done (or what the point of having that field in settings would do?) Can you please elaborate on this?

Is there a quicker way to correspond with you on this?

    Thank you,
    Jordan

  • Dear Customer

It works in a simple way.

Send to - means that the form will be sent to an email address which is different from the one set in system configs

Reply to - means when you want an other email set when customers are replying.

I hope this explanation finds you well.
    Best Regards

  • That doesn't answer my question. Do you have a better way for me to contact you? I'm playing forum tag with you and I have to wait 24 hours to get an answer?

I need the "reply to" field to automatically grab the email address the end-user puts in...

Example 1. Levon1@gmail.com fills out the form, the form is sent to me (website owner) and in the from field it says "Levon1@gmail.com", with my email program I hit reply and it is an email "TO: Levon1@gmail.com"

Example 2. Levon999@yahoo.com filles out form, sent to me, in the from field "Levon999@yahoo.com"...

Do you get what I'm asking?

In Contact Form 7 the way this is done is in the settings for the form, in the "Reply to" field I insert a variable... [user-email]...

This variable [user-email] is linked to the form field for "EMAIL"...

There is an email template area, that lets you customize how you will receive the email from the end-user.

In there, you can use your variables for "Name, Email, Phone, Comments" ...

That would look something like this:

    -----
    TEMPLATE:
    -----
    To: jordan@kolbaba.com
    From: [name] <[user-email]>
    Subject: [subject]

    Phone: [phone]
    Comments: [comments]

    -----

When the end user (lets call him "Levon0101@aol.com" fills out the email and puts that email address in the form field EMAIL, and puts their name "Levon" in the [name] field... When the end user's email comes through to me it will look like this (based on the template above):

    -----
    EMAIL I RECEIVE:
    ----

    To: jordan@kolbaba.com
    From: Levon <levon0101@aol.com>
    Subject: My subject

    Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX
    Comments: Hi Jordan!

    ----

I hope that makes sense. If you can do email, please email me at jordan@kolbaba.com

    Thanks
    J

  • Levon, here is another example of what this other plugin does... I think maybe what I'm asking about is the reply-to header... But either way, please read my last reply and see if that makes sense.

    Header example:
